On 13 October 2026 (21 Mehr 1405), we will receive the National Standard Award from the Iran National Standards Organization as one of five leading companies selected. This recognition is a source of pride for all of us at Behdash. To mark the occasion, we share the criteria used to select exemplary enterprises and the work we have done in production and technical development.

National Standard Award: Behdash’s selection in 2026

At Behdash, we produce raw materials that other industries use in their manufacturing processes. Their quality matters to our customers: the properties of a raw material can affect a formulation or the performance of the finished product. For us, quality means meeting product specifications through careful, consistent production.

Our selection to receive the National Standard Award on 13 October 2026 is a source of pride. The distinction reflects an assessment of a manufacturing enterprise over a defined period. That assessment considers its record of conformity and quality-control capability alongside management, training and technological development.

In this article, we review five assessment criteria and explain their place in our work at Behdash. The development milestones described here predate the ceremony on 13 October 2026. We give their dates separately so that the company’s progress is clear.

Thank you to our colleagues at Behdash

We see Behdash’s selection for the National Standard Award as the result of work by colleagues across the company. We sincerely thank everyone, especially our production and quality-control teams. Their care in day-to-day work and their attention to production issues help us maintain the quality of our products.

Our production colleagues are responsible for carrying out processes accurately. Alongside them, the quality-control team tests and checks product specifications, helping identify nonconformities and follow up corrective action. We appreciate the commitment of the managers and staff of these departments, and the cooperation of colleagues throughout the company.

We also extend special thanks to our quality-assurance colleagues for coordinating between departments and following up the documentation and requirements of assessments. As we explained in our article on the Three-Star Commendation in the Petrochemical Industry Excellence Award, this team’s role includes planning, gathering and presenting evidence, and helping departments work together. Their support helps us present our colleagues’ work in a clear, documented form.

What does the National Standard Award recognise?

The Iran National Standards Organization assesses exemplary enterprises against the rules of each selection cycle. A manufacturer’s performance must be supported by verifiable evidence. Relevant licences, test results and technical records are among the documents considered. Official services and information are available on the
Iran National Standards Organization website.

Assessment forms distinguish eligibility requirements from the factors used to award points. Products subject to mandatory standards need a licence to use the standard mark. The absence of proven nonconformities and compliance with applicable energy-consumption regulations are also eligibility conditions. Once these conditions are met, the remaining assessment factors are considered.

For us, the value of the National Standard Award lies in its focus on consistent quality. A good result must be repeatable in the next production run. That calls for an understanding of the process, clear responsibilities and careful review of the outcome.

The criteria discussed here are drawn from historical forms for selecting exemplary enterprises. Detailed rules and scoring weights may change between selection cycles; each award is governed by the instructions for that cycle.

Pillar 01 / National Standard Award

Consistent conformity: the foundation of the National Standard Award

Historical selection forms consider the continuity of licence validity and consecutive test results. Proven nonconformities also affect eligibility. The form published in the 1395 (2016–2017) special issue called for at least three sets of test results for the product being assessed.

In chemical production, changes in process conditions can affect product specifications. Consistent quality depends on understanding those changes: which stage needs checking, what are the product’s acceptance criteria, and when is corrective action needed? These are practical technical questions in production.

Our selection for the National Standard Award in 2026 relates to this area of work. Assessing an enterprise’s performance in the award year relies on its licences, test results and assessment records for that period. Its production history and product range should be considered alongside that evidence.

When selecting a raw material, our customers need product specifications and order documentation as well as a supplier’s track record. Company awards help establish that track record; evaluating a purchase still depends on information about the specific product and shipment.

Pillar 02 / National Standard Award

Quality control and laboratory capability in the National Standard Award

Quality-control structure, the qualifications and experience of the quality-control manager, and testing capability are among the topics covered by assessment forms. The historical special issue also considers laboratory capability and factory standards. These criteria focus on the resources and expertise needed to assess product quality.

In a chemical manufacturing company, product specifications must be clear and test results must relate to the product examined. Recording data helps us trace the effects of process changes and explain production results in technical terms. Without knowing the test conditions, comparing two figures can be misleading.

The range of our production processes at Behdash increases the need for expertise suited to each field. Chemical materials differ in their properties and in how those properties are measured. The scope of testing and the measurement method must suit the product under examination.

A laboratory accreditation such as ISO/IEC 17025 also has a defined scope and validity period. When reviewing it, the tests it covers and its expiry date must be checked. National exemplary enterprise recognition and laboratory accreditation are documents with different purposes.

Pillar 03 / National Standard Award

Management and training: supporting technical work

The historical assessment form covers valid management-system certifications, employee training and continuity in the quality-control manager’s role. Certificate validity and surveillance-audit records are considered. Training activities also need traceable documentation.
Assessment factors for management, training and quality control.

Equipment helps deliver good results when employees know how to use it. Understanding acceptance criteria, reporting problems and following up corrective action are part of the skills needed in production. Training that relates to everyday tasks helps processes run more accurately.

A commitment to quality, specialist staff and the development of training are part of our values and direction at Behdash. Strengthening research and development is also a company priority. You can read about our values and direction on the
About Us page.

A quality management system concerns how an organisation manages its processes and improves its work. Clear responsibilities and adequate resources affect production outcomes. The official introduction to the ISO 9000 family is a useful reference. For the award-year assessment, certificates and training records must relate to that period and remain valid.

Pillar 04 / National Standard Award

Technology and research: our experience in developing production

Improvements in technology and production methods, better quality, and reductions in waste and rework are factors in the historical exemplary enterprise selection form. Related research activities are also considered. Evidence that the work was carried out, together with its technical results, matters in assessing these factors.

During the 1370s in the Iranian calendar (1991–2001), we established our design and machinery-building unit. Processes such as ethoxylation and sodium silicate production were subsequently added to Behdash’s operations. These developments form part of our industrial growth before the 2026 selection. Details are available in the
history of Behdash’s industrial development.

For us, developing technology goes hand in hand with understanding production processes. A change in manufacturing method must be examined alongside its effect on product specifications and process stability. Project implementation reports and technical results provide the basis for that assessment; an equipment or project name alone does not establish its outcome.

As this work continued, we began building our catalyst plant in 1396 SH (2017–2018) and commissioned it in 1402 SH (2023–2024). Completed before the 2026 National Standard Award ceremony, the project is part of the expansion of our production capability at Behdash.

To assess an industrial project, its implementation dates, technical challenge and measurable outcome need to be clear. This information shows what the project changed in production. Records of projects within the selection period are examined on the same basis.

Pillar 05 / National Standard Award

Resource efficiency: our attention to water and energy

Historical exemplary enterprise selection rules require applicable enterprises to comply with energy-consumption regulations before entering the assessment. This condition depends on which regulations apply to the enterprise.
Enterprise eligibility requirements in the Organization’s historical form.

Reducing waste and rework helps conserve resources. To measure efficiency, consumption needs to be considered alongside production volume, product type and process conditions. Comparing consumption between two periods without allowing for these differences does not give an accurate picture of production performance.

Conserving water and energy is part of our direction at Behdash. Developing wastewater treatment and recycling is also included in company policy. We explain our approach to sustainability and resource management on the
About Us page.

Assessing conformity with energy criteria requires records from the assessment period. Resource-management policies set out a company’s direction; consumption reports and conformity records make its performance verifiable. For us, quality in production goes hand in hand with responsible resource use.

On 13 October 2026, we will receive the National Standard Award. By presenting this recognition alongside our development history, we hope to give customers and colleagues a clearer understanding of our work.

How does the National Standard Award differ from a product certification?

National exemplary enterprise recognition concerns the assessment of a manufacturing enterprise over a defined period. A licence to use the standard mark covers a specific product scope. A quality management system certificate relates to the management of an organisation’s processes. Each document serves its own purpose.

Our selection for the National Standard Award in 2026 relates to the assessment of our manufacturing enterprise. When buying a product, its licence status and specifications must be checked separately. The award does not certify every product and grade currently offered by the company.
