History of Behdash

From a Small Workshop to Industry Leadership

Behdash was born out of a small workshop in Tehran, with a bold vision: to help make Iran industrially self-sufficient.
In less than a decade, a full-scale sulfonation plant was launched in Qazvin. For the first time in Iran, Behdapon and sulfonic acid—key raw materials used in shampoos and detergents—were produced domestically.

Diversity: The Key to Survival

The company’s product range expanded. An oleochemical plant was launched, and fatty soap was added to the production line. Behdash was gradually emerging as a full-fledged player in the detergent industry.

A True Industrial Leap

In just a few years, new facilities for powder detergents, silicate, zeolite, spray drying, and baby soap were launched. Annual production multiplied, and product diversity reached its peak. Behdash had now become an industrial giant.

Growth Engineering

The 1990s began with the launch of Behdash’s design and machinery division. This was followed by the production of synthetic soap and the construction of a new sulfonation unit. Behdash was no longer just a manufacturer—it had become a designer and builder in its own right.

Production, with Greater Depth

Behdash moved into the production of more advanced materials—from ethoxylation to sodium silicate. With these additions, the company was now able to meet the more specialized needs of the industry.

Entering the Global Arena

When Germany’s Henkel entered the scene to acquire the Taj and Saf plants, Behdash proved its capabilities on an international level. Foreign investment followed, paving the way for the company’s next leap forward.
